QuTech Academy: educating the present and future changemakers in quantum technology

QuTech Academy has the ambition to educate the next generation of quantum scientists and prepare industry and society for the second quantum revolution. We pursue our goals via on-campus courses, online learning, collaborative programs, and outreach.

Life-long learning portfolio for professionals

Long-term goal:
To support the development of our community through excellent online education for professionals.

In 2025, QuTech Academy expanded its online learning portfolio with the new MOOC Quantum Error Correction and Algorithms, taught by Christian Andersen and Stefano Bosco. The course was rolled out from 18 November to 9 December 2025 and takes learners from the fundamentals of quantum algorithms and compilation to current approaches in quantum error correction, strengthening our offer for professionals who want to deepen both theoretical understanding and practical insight into scalable quantum computing.

QuTech Academy also broadened its professional education activities beyond fully online learning through a masterclass on Quantum Technologies for public professionals at TU Delft’s The Hague campus. In this session, participants learned to distinguish realistic applications of quantum technology from hype, understand the main quantum domains, and explore how public-sector professionals can engage with the field in an informed way.

External/internal talent

Long-term goal:
To develop diverse talent for the quantum ecosystem

In 2025, QuTech Academy welcomed a new cohort of QuTech Scholarship students, continuing its commitment to attracting excellent international talent to TU Delft’s quantum master tracks. The scholarships cover full tuition fees and support living expenses for the two-year MSc programme, while also creating a pathway into PhD positions at QuTech for top-performing graduates.

Together with QDNL Delft, we organised the Tools from the Quantum Industry workshop in December at the TU Delft Campus, creating a practical learning environment for internal and external participants and strengthening links between education, research and the growing quantum industry.

QuTech360 seminars

Since April 2021, QuTech Academy has organised many so-called QuTech360 seminars, where experts from all QuTech divisions and colleagues from the faculties of Applied Sciences and Electrical Engineering, Mathematics & Computer Science of TU Delft can learn about the wide range of topics studied at QuTech. In 2025, total of 6 seminars has been organised by the QuTech Academy. Some of the past QuTech360 seminars can  be found on the following link.
